A new outlet for Outrider and a new expansion

I've just spent a month (or two?) corresponding with some folks over at Steve Jackson Games, trying to get Outrider added to their E23 catalog. Well after patiently going back and forth, I finally received the publisher's contract, which I signed and sent off a few days ago ... so we should be days away from seeing Outrider on E23(!)

But That's Not All ...

One of the suggestions of the E23 crew, was to have more than one product available at launch, so I have been working to complete the first Outrider Bolt-On, to premiere with the luanch of Outrider on E23. I give you ... the damage deck:

a sample of damage deck cards

The deck is easily inserted into play - when you would normally remove an Armor Token, you draw a damage card instead and follow the instructions listed. The deck adds degrading effects to the game - cars can suffer from reduced attributes and bonuses and can be outright crippled by critical effects ... there's even a few near misses in the deck, giving the defender's a little hope when facing that last hit.

The deck will go live the same day Outrider goes live on e23, so stay tuned. The damage deck will also be available throught the Outrider bolt-ons page, as well as wargamevault and your other favorite online sellers.

Outrider is an Editor's Pick!

A friend of mine posted the following pic to facebook today:

Outrider is the editor's pick of the month in KODT magazine 172. I'm trying to track down a copy at the local comic shop ... or I'll just break down right now and buy it online.

Outrider Bolt-Ons Page Goes (Semi) Live

I have been working through a production schedule (of sorts), trying to focus/prioritize what I want to work on next for Outrider.

I have put up the Outrider Bolt-Ons page as a sort of list of what to expect. Right now most of the links are greyed out, but hopefully I can work hard in 2011 and make most of them live (fingers crossed).

In the meantime, though, you can look through the content and see what's planned for Outrider. It includes futrure expansions for rules, vehicles, auxiliary equipment and senarios/terrain.

check it out and let me know what you think.

Some Great User submitted content

Greetings, all.

I've been receiving some great feedback and also some user-generated content. ShaunGamer, a BGG user has created some recolored variants of the base vehicles, including all four in Republic of Texas Ranger coloring (each with different call numbers - nice touch, SG). Click on the image below for the full size original, hosted on BGG.

Beware the Rotor-Squad!
On a related note, the Card-Art version of the four expansion vehicles (Raider, Renegade, Tailgunner & Trailblazer) are in the works.

here's a sneak of two, yet unfisnhed vehicles - can you guess which is which?

Outrider Videos

The first video is a brief assembled components overview uploaded to youtube and BGG by User Chugosh. The second is a video I found while searching for the link to Chugosh's video on YouTube ... It's a pitch video by BAE, trying to sell their 'Outrider' vehicle to the military. I always thought of making an 'Outrider' build for the game, I just hadn't settled on what it was going to be yet ... hmmmm

A few Scenario Variants posted on BGG

greetings all,

Tired of Roadblock?

I have uploded a couple of variants to BoardGameGeek that use components from the base game.

The first is a three-player variant called Pony Express, it features a lone smuggler in an Interceptor, using a small town as a shortcut - only to find that local law enforcement is blocking the path.

The second is a large, six-player game called Border Run. This time, the Texas Rangers have their own agenda - destroy the makeshift bridge that Comancero raiders are using to enter the Lone Star state ... but they also have to divide their attention to stop a band of raiders who have already made it into the territory.

I hope you enjoy these variants and be sure to check the Outrider page on boardgamegeek for updates, variants and discussions.

'til next time
